Details of Courses

COURSE TITLE: Environmental Mineralogy
LECTURERS: Prof. B. Grobéty
SCOPE:Interaction of minerals with hydro- and atmosphere
HELD AT:FR
CATEGORY: General principles
ECTS Credits:2.5
PREREQUISITES:
REQUISITES:
FORMAT:Lecture
FREQUENCY:biennially in fall semester, held in odd years
CONTENTS:Minerals are the primary constituents of the solid Earth (geosphere). At the surface, they are in contact with and, if small enough, may be transferred into the hydro-, atmos- and biosphere, where they are, together with antropogenic particles, important players in processes that affect among others climate and human health. After introducing the special properties of micro- and nanoparticles, the course will focus on sources, transport and environmental impact of atmospheric and water suspended particles. Special attention will be given to the interaction of such particles with the biosphere and their impact on human health.
ASSESSMENT:oral examination 20’
SPECIALITIES:EM
