Exploring the genomic diversity of the Dead Sea shores : metabolic potential and biotechnology applications

Environmental microbial communities hold in their DNA a range of poorly understood metabolic capabilities that can be investigated to better understand the interaction of life with the geosphere, and possibly be harnessed for biotechnological applications (e.g. bioremediation). We here propose to explore metagenomics data from the hypersaline Dead Sea to look for patterns that can help us understand the development of life in extreme conditions.
