This project will be dedicated to the study of the earliest representative of the genus Pelophylax from an early Oligocene site Céreste, France. The study fossil is a complete, well-preserved and articulated skeleton. Its preservation will enable more precise taxonomic identification, optimally at the species or species-group level. In addition to the physical specimen, µCT data will be used to reconstruct and provide morphological (virtual) comparison of the remains with recent and few fossil forms. The genus Pelophylax has Asiatic origin and with its earliest record in Céreste provides an exceptional opportunity to compare and better understanding the dispersal of elements of Asiatic origin at/after the Grand-Coupure event.
