| CONTENTS: | Many solid phases important to the mineral-resource and waste-disposal industries are opaque in normal white light. Reflected-light microscopy allows these phases to be identified and their textures documented. This course covers: principles of reflected-light microscopy; optical properties of solid phases; methods of identification; textures in ores, slags and corrosion products. |
| ASSESSMENT: | Written report on examination of one specific polished section |
(prer): Courses with prerequisites.
