CONTENTS:The lecture provides an overview of several geomorphological natural hazards processes in alpine regions, methods as well as hazard assessment. Following a short introduction and critical discussion on the topic of natural hazards and the key concepts, different process types (debris flows, floods, snow avalanches, landslides, earthquakes, …) will be illustrated as well as related methods discussed. Further aspects are the effects of climate change and human impacts on natural hazards processes. Learning Outcome: Students know about the fundamentals of natural hazards processes and will be able to classify different aspects. They can describe essential methods for hazard assessments of different processes and uncertainties, and highlight challenges for the applications of hazard assessement.
